I have come across something that has totally rocked my world. If you've never read my blog before my goal with it is to help other musicians try to make a living with their music. The majority of my posts are related to that in some way. This post is different. Mastering Plugins: A Guide How to Use them

A lot of times, mastering your music seems very challenging. Mainly because it's kind of hard to find solid resources to help learn how to really do it. Probably the most important first step is to really understand what is going on during mastering.

Unlike mixing, mastering is about getting entire levels of the music balanced, adjusting the total volume of the track, and bringing out the details to really make the music come alive. You can check out the article Difference Between Mixed Music and Mastered Music to go in more depth on that.

Difference Between Mixed Music and Mastered Music

When it comes to music production, there really isn't a right way or a wrong way to do it. As long as the end result sounds good, it doesn't really matter how you got there. A lot of getting a "professional" sound is in a lot of little steps that when added together make all the difference. It makes it kind of frustrating when you're trying to learn.

Some people will tell you it's in the gear. Others will tell you it's in the ears. Ultimately though the trick is matching the music you're working on with the sound you have in your mind. Part of doing that is learning the difference between what sounds good in a mix compared to how it will sound when the music is mastered.
